一般以-ward结尾的词，forward,onward,backward,toward都是加s表示副词，可与不加s的副词互换。但仿佛from…forward不会写作from…forwards, 这个是和look forward to一样是固定习语吗？
我看外网上有讲解说forwards目前用的愈加少，但与之成对比的onwards倒是非常常用，语料库里from…后面基本都是onwards, 少有onward。请问是否由于forward有动词使用方法，第三人称单数forwards容易与加s的副词使用方法混淆?或者这种不加s的习语多用于美式英语区域，进而延续了美式英语不加s的习惯(有看法觉得加s的多为英式英语）。想听听各位老师的看法，这个from…forward,为何不像from…onwards一样加s?
一般以-ward结尾的词，一般表示方向性，为副词或形容词。当用作副词是，美国用-ward, 英国多用-wards, 但也有的英国人受美国英语影响，用-ward. 当用作形容词时，英美都用-ward,不需要-wards。这类词中，afterwards（英）/afterward (美）只可以用作副词，不需要作形容词，这是个例外。
现在，因受美语影响，-word形式更多见。于你说的from ... forward 的形式不加s，我没听说过，只能说美式使用方法多见而已。我仅以from here forwards为例，即可在Google语料库搜索到不少例句，现仅摘选三个例句供参考：

只能说forward 比forwards 用频率高。另外，经查，在Google语料库from now onwards 和from now onward的用法频率大致相同。
